Lights Out — Privacy Policy
JDVB Photography · Effective 5 August 2026
The short version: Lights Out collects no personal data. No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing about you is stored on our servers — we don't operate any.
What the app does
Lights Out is a Formula 1 companion app. It displays race schedules, championship standings, results and reference information about drivers and circuits. All of this is public sporting data.
Data the app collects
None. The app has no user accounts, no registration, no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking of any kind. Your settings and nothing else stay on your device.
Network requests
To show current sporting data, the app requests public information from motorsport data services — the Jolpica F1 API and the OpenF1 API. As with any internet request, those services technically receive your device's IP address in order to answer the request. Lights Out sends them nothing else — no identifiers, no personal information — and we do not store or log anything about these requests ourselves.
Home screen widgets
The optional widgets fetch the same public sporting data in the same way, and store a small cache of it on your device so the widget can render offline. That cache never leaves your device.
Links to other sites
The app contains links to our own websites (jdvb.com.au, f1.jdvb.com.au) and to our Instagram profile. When you tap one, it opens outside the app and the destination's own privacy practices apply.
Children
The app is suitable for general audiences, collects no data from anyone, and does not knowingly process personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever changes these practices — for example, adding crash reporting — this page will be updated first and the effective date above revised.
